Boughton Malherbe Parish Council
Maidstone Borough Council, Waste Services has advised that there will be collection round changes affecting all properties over the Christmas and New Year holidays.
- Bulky collections are suspended after 23 December, to restart from Tuesday 10 January.
- Garden waste collections are suspended after 23 December, to restart Monday 9 January.
- Week ONE. From Monday 26 December. All waste and recycling collections are delayed by one day. Monday properties are rescheduled to Tuesday and so on during the week, until Friday collections are delayed to Saturday.
- Week TWO. From Monday 2 January. All other waste and recycling collections are delayed by one day. Monday properties are rescheduled to Tuesday and so on during the week, until Friday collections are delayed to Saturday.
- All services to return to normal on Monday 9 January.
Waste tonnages usually increase by up to 20% over Christmas, greatly increasing the recycling opportunities. Residents are advised to visit www.maidstone.gov.uk/mybin or email recycling@maidstone.gov.uk to check if an item can be recycled and any excess recycling can be placed in a cardboard box or similar open container.
Due to the increase in tonnage all collections will run slightly slower than usual, residents are reminded that bins must be available from 6.00am and in addition, please park cars considerately so that the collection vehicles can gain access into all roads.
The Authority will advise local residents by bin hanger from late November, with the information published on our website, in the Borough Insight magazine and the Environmental Newsletter. These changes will also be published on MBC social media channels, along with a daily feature giving 12 tips for reducing Christmas waste.
